Laura James’ Artist Statement:
My current work primarily focuses on change and diversity.
I work in acrylic and acrylic mediums to create work that is both fluid and solid simultaneously. Through the use of various combinations of color and techniques the work represents a constant state of change. The entire piece creates a feeling of motion while actually being motionless. Through the use of certain mediums the colors can be integrated together and layered without becoming muted. Though the colors in my work overlap and blend they do not lose their individual character. The condition changes but the essence stays constant.
My diverse color and intense palettes represent life experience. I believe it takes variety to achieve intense power and beauty.
